The Wellington Regional Surfing Champs were held on Sunday, 30 May at The Corner, Lyall Bay, delivering a full day of high‑quality surfing in classic local conditions. With a nice swell running and light offshore winds for most of the morning, competitors were treated to clean, contestable waves that allowed both divisions to showcase strong, committed surfing.
Lyall Bay turned on one of its better autumn days, with clear skies, warm sun, and a great turnout of supporters lining the beach. The atmosphere was a nice vibe, with surfers from across the region pushing the level and making the most of the conditions.
The event ran smoothly from first heat to finals, and the standard of surfing highlighted the depth of talent within the Wellington region. It was an excellent day for the local surfing community and a strong showcase of what Wellington surfers can do when The Corner fires.
